Zoe and I were visiting the residents at Sunapee Cove one day and having a nice time. I noticed a man in his mid 50’s enter the room with his walker and sit in the far corner. He was looking over at the dogs and the resident’s who were visiting. I felt like he wanted to engage with the group and the dogs but was hesitant. Zoe and I walked over and sat beside him, asking if he would like to visit with my pup. He immediately said “Yes” and then we had a lovely chat about his prior dogs. It was lovely to see his face light up and hear his stories. I know that Zoe comforted him, however for myself I left Sunapee Cove that day feeling the real therapy was a gift to myself, seeing someone’s day be a little brighter with the wag of a tail!
