Mae and I have a ‘regular’ we visit at Woodlawn and today, as we were getting ready to leave his room, he said “Being around dogs makes me happy.”
This sentiment only affirmed how grateful I am to share dog joy with others through these visits, especially those who are in facilities where they can’t have their own pets with them. This man has had dogs throughout his life…he often talks about a lab jumping into the farm truck when it was haying time. Seeing dogs brings back happy memories for him. That is a true gift of pet therapy visits–for all of us.
